Australian-Japanese Relations
Title
Australian-Japanese Relations
Subject
The British Commonwealth Occupation Force in the Occupation of Japan
Description
The Entwistle Collection is a source of information about early post-war Australian-Japanese relations. The photos in this collection show BCOF Soldiers experiencing Japanese culture, as well as displaying personal interactions between Australians and Japanese citizens. Due to strict fraternisation policy, there are not many photos of the BCOF and Japanese people together in Entwistle's album. However, the images that do exist show signs of early reconciliation.
The people in these photographs are unknown. However, this does not mean their identities and stories should go unheard. If you recognise any of the people in these images, please contact the Entwistle Collection's curator, Chloe Traynor, to help put the names to faces.
